Earaches are signified by redness, pain and itching of the outer ear. If the pain becomes severe or prolonged consult your healthcare practitioner. Generally speaking earaches are accompanied by colds and flu. Recurrent ear infections can also be indicative of dairy allergies.
I have a few different remedies that have been successful for earaches. A simple remedy to make at home is garlic and mullein flower oil. This blend will help fight infection and relieve pain as well. Garlic is an anti-microbial agent helping to fight both viral and bacterial infections. It is also warming and stimulates the healing blood flow to the area. Mullein flower is an analgesic helping to reduce pain & inflammation associated with ear infections.
Garlic and Mullein Flower Oil
Ingredients
1/4 cup fresh mullein flower (you can also use dried flowers)
3 garlic cloves, chopped
olive oil
Directions:
1. Chop the garlic into small pieces. Place the garlic and mullein flowers in a small glass jar with a lid.
2. Cover the mullein flowers with olive oil and allow to sit in a warm area for several days, or heat over very low heat for 4 hours.
3. If you are using fresh mullein flowers, cover your jar with cheesecloth rather than a lid to allow moisture to escape.
4. Strain the oil through cheesecloth and store your oil in a small dropper bottle in the refrigerator.
To Use:
Warm the oil to body temperature by placing the bottle of oil in a glass of hot water for a few minutes. Insert 2-3 drops in the affected ear 2-3 times per day.

1. Place the buds of the unopened flowers into a small glass jar with a lid.
2. Cover the flowers with olive oil to and allow to sit in a warm area for several days, or heat over very low heat for 4 hours.
3. If you are using fresh flowers, cover your jar with cheesecloth rather than a lid to allow moisture to escape.
4. Strain the oil through cheesecloth and store your oil in a small dropper bottle in the refrigerator.
To Use:
Warm the oil to body temperature by placing the bottle of oil, under your arm, or in a glass of hot water for a few minutes. Insert 2-3 drops in the affected ear 2-3 times per day.
Notes:
Only harvest flowers and plants from areas that are free of exhaust fumes, pesticides, herbicides etc.
If there is fluid oozing from the ear or any chance that the ear drum is perforated do not use the ear oil and consult your doctor.
